Good, good good, good vibrations sang the Beach Boys in their sixties classic, however in our experience vibration can be anything but good! From the extremes of earth quake tremors down to the intermittent failure of a flexing printed circuit board or the damage caused by an unbalanced rotor on a helicopter, vibration is not a good thing and can be very destructive.
Although as a company Calibration Maintenance and Repair Ltd (CMR Ltd for short) are not always able to offer a solution to your vibration problem, we can certainly supply the right tools for you to better understand where and why it is happening. In its simplest form vibration measurement is carried out by using an accelerometer via a cable, attached to a vibration meter, analyser or data logger which determines the vibration level and frequency. By analysing this data and seeing where the spikes are occurring and at what frequency a solution can be identified, this may involve adding a weight, changing a bearing or adding good old hot melt glue!
With over 40 years experience in test and measurement and vibration data analysis CMR Ltd have built up and impressive group of suppliers offering a vast range of products, which include, Accelerometers and accessories from PCB®, DJ Birchall, Hansford Sensors, IMI and YMC, Vibration Analysers and Meters from Adash and Datastick, HARM/Whole body meters and Sound Level Meters from Quest and Larson Davis, Thermal Imaging Cameras from Testo and HT Instruments and Helicopter Blade Balancers from Honeywell and Chadwick Helmuth.
There may not be such a thing as a good vibration, but we can promise you an accurately recorded and measured one.
