Calibration of Bat detector

Someone once asked me, “what is the most unusual thing you have calibrated” at first I was lost for words but then after much head scratching, I remembered, it was a bat detector! This led me to the train of thought, about unusual customer requests.

There was the lady who wanted us to recalibrate her bathroom scales, as they must be wrong, how could she, have possibly put on 5 pounds in one week! The scales had to be wrong!!!

We have also calibrated a set of scales for a Greyhound rescue centre, these we did free of charge as they are such beautiful gentle dogs.

On the sporting side we have supplied and calibrated sound level meters for Motorcross events organisers.

Calibration of sound level meters for wedding events organisers, must have been one hell of a party!

But the bat detector remains the most unusual, throwing up its own unique challenges, at least I have learnt the difference in frequency between a Pipistrelle and a Brown long- eared bat call!
