Our UKAS BS EN ISO 17025 accreditation assures customers that all test & measuring equipment is fully traceability back to national standards, therefore by definition all calibrations performed by CMR Ltd are traceable to national standards.
There is sometimes confusion over whether companies require UKAS calibration certificates or if traceable calibration certificates to national standards are sufficient.
If you have been instructed to have your instruments calibrated by a UKAS company, ensure this means an actual UKAS calibration certificate or if a traceable to national standards certificate is enough. If you are unsure please check with the governing body of your industry. If you or your customer does not require you to have a UKAS calibration certificate then you can decide which type of calibration satisfies your quality requirements.
“UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) A calibration or test laboratory with UKAS Accreditation provides calibration and test services to international standards. It has regular technical audits to ensure it can maintain measurement capabilities, compliance to detailed procedures and standards of competence. This ensures that calibrations are carried out to highest standards. UKAS calibration is described as legal metrology and any issued certificates are a legal document that will stand up in court. UKAS is recognised by the British government to assess the competence of organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services, against internationally agreed standards."
